USVI: 2017

Posted on Updated on

My favorite place.

My husband and I made another trip back to the USVI and had an absolute blast, again. We stayed in the same resort, Marriott Frenchmen’s Reef, and this time they upgraded our room and it was beyond perfect. We were able to walk directly out the patio doors to the walking area to the beach.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from our trip this time.

The food is incredible. The water is crystal clear. The sand is like powdered sugar. The sun is always beaming. This IS paradise.

My go to drink: Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita.

This trip we booked an “excursion” with Virgin Island Ecotours. We decided to go with the Kayak, Hike and Snorkel trip. The most fun I have had in years! It is so worth the money. The tour guides made the trip worth the while. Click this link to check out our video of the tour as well as other highlights from the rest of our trip!

We cannot wait to plan to go back! Our favorite vacation spot!

Until the next wave,

Spring Break 2017

Posted on

What a month! It is speeding by so gracefully… Here’s a recap of some of my favorite memories AND a sneak peak of our newly renovated bathroom! (Plumber came over Spring Break and we have been super busy.)

This cute little farmer picked up his own apple for a quick snack. How cute is this?? I’ll post this DIY Pinterest find Farmhouse Produce Stand in a few days. Literally, one of the easiest DIY wood projects.

Amidst our mini Spring Break trip we stopped at the Cosmic Cavern in Berryville, Arkansas! Rhett had an absolute blast (mom & dad did too!). So much information to let soak in and great sights to see!

We went to Branson, Missouri for a few days over Spring Break this year. Used our timeshare points (Bluegreen) and stayed at The Falls. Such a quiet (outside) place to stay for a mini vacation tucked into the hills of Branson. Of course, the first place Rhett wanted to go, was the jacuzzi tub, we obliged. He had so much fun in his “swimming pool”.

We went to the Dixie Stampede while we were in Branson, and again, Rhett absolutely loved it. He loved seeing the horses and the lights and fire that went along with the show. I’ve been to Branson multiple times and I have NEVER been, until now. Of course, I will be back. The food and show were amazing.

Bathroom Sneak Peek:

Check out our super cute helper! I’ll make an entire post from start to finish when all the finishing touches are made.

Until then,

Birthday Shenanigans

Tommy turned thirty! I am so blessed to be able to share this milestone with him & the many more to come! Happy birthday babe! :] I took him on a cruise for his birthday since we don’t really care for “material” things, we like to make MEMORIES! It was such a fun time; I cannot wait to go again.

My •almost• favorite part of cruising is the FOOD & DRINKS! We love to try new things and just junk out all the time & not feel guilty about it. 🙂 Since we live in Texas, we always sail out of Galveston, and that port doesn’t offer very many travel options so we opted to fly to LA and sail from Long Beach.

Our first stop was Catalina Island, California [also known as Avalon]. This is such a super small island, there really isn’t much to do, but the views are spectacular! We walked the entire island and shopped in the first couple of hours that we were at port. The wind and tide were high, so it was super chilly and we were unable to swim at the beach, but that’s okay, we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere this small island provided.

Last and final port: Ensenada, Mexico. This place was •beautiful•. We didn’t buy an excursion on the cruise through Carnival, but as soon as we got off of the boat and took a bus in to town, we decided to purchase from a  local vendor. We went on the La Bufadora Tour, which was about 35 minutes south of Ensenada. It was a quiet ride on the tour bus, with lots of information given from our tour guide. In La Bufadora, there are approximately 300 shops and home to one of the world’s largest geysers! Since we went first thing in the morning to see this “blow hole”, it wasn’t blowing at it’s peak, but it sure was a sight to see!

We met some great people from all across the United States on our cruise. There were several couples assigned to our dinner table each night roughly the same age as us. It was such a fun time each night interacting with these people and hearing stories about them.

Of course, I’m too cheap to purchase the pictures available on the cruise, because be honest, who wants to spend $18.95 for a 8×10 picture with no frame? Not me! So, I was able to take a few pictures of the pictures [with my cell phone] before I got caught & got in trouble! Ha! We call them our “glamour shots”. We laughed each night we took pictures because they were super posed and completely unnatural, but the few pictures I got, I love!

Even though we spent Thanksgiving day in an airport for over 5 hours waiting on our flight, didn’t get to eat a Thanksgiving meal with family, we enjoyed every minute of being gone. We sure missed being with Rhett though, and I’m pretty sure Rhett missed being with us! Saturday, the 26th, was Tommy’s actual birthday, so I decided to get up and cook him a traditional Thanksgiving meal, just for the three of us. I spent all morning and most of the early afternoon in the kitchen, but it was totally worth it.

Until our next adventure,

November

Wow! It’s almost the end of November, almost Thanksgiving, almost Christmas, almost 2017! A •lot• of things have happened this month. Lots of traveling, time with friends, new President-elect, new furniture, you name it!

Let’s start with the traveling:

Recently, I went on a four day cruise out of NOLA to Cozumel, Mexico with just the GIRLS! No husbands, no kids, no worries! I could not even describe the amount of food we ate, it was all so good, so of course we had to try it all. The weather was absolutely perfect, the atmosphere was addicting and refreshing. It was an absolute blast, but I sure was happy to get home to my husband and baby. 🙂

Friendsgiving:

I wanted to start a tradition of Friendsgiving to sort of jump start the holiday season. I love, love, love to cook and I love to have friends over, so what better way to bring us all together? We decorated, we ate, we drank, we passed out shortly after, but not because of the alcohol! [insert evil grin] Everyone brought a side dish or dessert, it was all pre-determined so no one brought the same dish. We were responsible for the meat and appetizers. Tommy smoked a turkey and a chicken, and I roasted two chickens. The appetizer was Dressing & Sausage Balls w/ a Cranberry Dipping Sauce. SUPER EASY & SUPER DELISH! I will post the recipe in a few days; it tastes so good! We decorated the tables into two tables; a girl’s and a guy’s table, of course the guy’s table had to be a bit sarcastic on the decor. 🙂

DIY Table Decor:

You will need two rolls Brown Kraft Paper (depending on the size of your table), black Sharpies in different sizes, tape, fall decor & an artistic hand. Cut and fit the brown Kraft paper to your table size, and secure with tape. Use the black Sharpies to decorate with fake plates, utensils and frilly designs & sayings. Add your fall decor to the center & Voila!

Cannot wait to do it again next year!

President-elect:

I am 27 years old, and I am proud [yet almost embarrassed] to say that I voted for the first time in my life this election. I did my research on the candidates, chose the one I felt could best lead our country, exercised my American right, and voted. Proudly!

New Furniture:

I have had the same “big man” chair for about 8 years now, and although it is still super comfortable, it doesn’t look as pretty as it did when I first brought it home. Same goes for my couch. We have decided it was time to just bite the bullet and purchase a new couch and chair. I can guarantee I did more research on these two items than I had on any college paper this semester. Buying a couch is an investment, and although I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, I want something affordable, yet durable. These two things normally do not go hand and hand. I decided to purchase from Wayfair. I will post info & pictures once these items arrive. Crossing my fingers everything turns out!

Next Adventure:

My husbands 30th birthday is this month! What better way to celebrate than to take him on a mini vaca? Catalina Island, California and Ensenda, Mexico here we come! 🙂 Yes, I’m a cruise/travel person, if you can’t already tell! Pics to come soon!

Until then,

Happy Thanksgiving friends!

xoxo,
