|Entry Redo|

Posted on Updated on

Our entry has been blah for pretty much the entire time we have lived at our house. We added paint and a new light fixture, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted to brighten it up and make it inviting!

We came across a hell of a deal at Lowe’s over the weekend that we couldn’t pass up. HARDWOOD floors that were originally $75 a box for only $25 a box!

Now, if only we could have replaced the flooring in our entire house. Anywho, quick, easy install. It looks absolutely gorgeous. I told my husband I wanted to move my chair to the front entry and just live there.

We created faux shiplap by cutting a 4×8 piece of 5mm plywood into strips of 6 inches and spacing it about a nickel’s width apart.

I went through and painted in between the cracks with a brush and then rolled the rest. I had a light yellow color behind the planks so I didn’t have to paint the wall before installing the faux shiplap. *YAY*

Check out how great it turned out. Let me know what you think!

Voila!

All in all, this entire entry way project with flooring, closet door, faux shiplap, and paint [we already had the trim] cost less than $200. SCORE!

Our next work in project is the front door. We have stripped the paint from it and will be staining it. Before and afters coming soon πŸ™‚

Until the next door opens,

Ya’ll… The guest bathroom isΒ done(~ish)! Done enough to post! [We lack painting the open shelving] It has been long over due, and I am so glad that it is functioning. Three people and one bathroom under one roof just doesn’t cut it for me. Especially with me being the only girl in the house! [I need my space.]

First off, please keep in mind that we gutted this bathroom [top to bottom], which is why it took fooooorrrreeevvver! So worth it in the end.

During Demo: What a mess!

Replacing and installing insulation in the subfloor.

Floor ductwork and platform built for AC unit.

Moving light fixtures and putting up headboard ceiling.

Shiplap everywhere! πŸ™‚

Floor leveler down and sanded. Flooring installed.

Cement board for tiled shower installed & remaining shiplap installed.

Tile Installation, Grouting and Sealing.

Finishing Touches.

And Voila! We have a functioning bathroom! :]

Until the next renovation,

|Spring Break 2017|

What a month! It is speeding by so gracefully… Here’s a recap of some of my favorite memories AND a sneak peak of our newly renovated bathroom! (Plumber came over Spring Break and we have been super busy.)

This cute little farmer picked up his own apple for a quick snack. How cute is this?? I’ll post this DIY Pinterest find Farmhouse Produce Stand in a few days. Literally, one of the easiest DIY wood projects.

Amidst our mini Spring Break trip we stopped at the Cosmic Cavern in Berryville, Arkansas! Rhett had an absolute blast (mom & dad did too!). So much information to let soak in and great sights to see!

We went to Branson, Missouri for a few days over Spring Break this year. Used our timeshare points (Bluegreen) and stayed at The Falls. Such a quiet (outside) place to stay for a mini vacation tucked into the hills of Branson. Of course, the first place Rhett wanted to go, was the jacuzzi tub, we obliged. He had so much fun in his “swimming pool”.

We went to the Dixie Stampede while we were in Branson, and again, Rhett absolutely loved it. He loved seeing the horses and the lights and fire that went along with the show. I’ve been to Branson multiple times and I have NEVER been, until now. Of course, I will be back. The food and show were amazing.

Bathroom Sneak Peek:

Check out our super cute helper! I’ll make an entire post from start to finish when all the finishing touches are made.

Until then,

Officially on Christmas Break from work; off work until 2017. I have so many projects, ideas and plans for Tommy and I over the next two weeks.

This past weekend we had our 2nd Annual Christmas Party & Scavenger Hunt with friends and it sure was memorable. [This picture says it all.. Thanks Chan for being the brave one!]

I have spent the last several weeks making & selling shirts for friends & family for Christmas presents and whatnot. Talk about SUPER BUSY! But so fun and worth it! These will be available for purchase from my Etsy shop shortly.

Here’s just a FEW of what I have done. πŸ™‚

Rhett visited the North Pole of Texas recently and enjoyed every minute of it! He was able to ride the train around the property and see all of the Christmas lights, have a picture made with Mrs. Claus and see Santa along the way. He has not stopped talking about it since he got home.

I hope over the next couple of weeks, Tommy and I are able to work on our guest bathroom. It has been “out of order” for about 6 months. We had plans back in the summer to work on it and just never got around to it. It is so fun to plan and purchase items to renovate. And the satisfaction after completion is indescribable. Hopefully that feeling comes soon. Until then, I’ll keep buying and working [hopefully]. I’ll keep you updated on any progress & purchases with that project.

From my family to yours, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Until next time,
