USVI: 2017

My favorite place.

My husband and I made another trip back to the USVI and had an absolute blast, again. We stayed in the same resort, Marriott Frenchmen’s Reef, and this time they upgraded our room and it was beyond perfect. We were able to walk directly out the patio doors to the walking area to the beach.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from our trip this time.

The food is incredible. The water is crystal clear. The sand is like powdered sugar. The sun is always beaming. This IS paradise.

My go to drink: Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita.

This trip we booked an “excursion” with Virgin Island Ecotours. We decided to go with the Kayak, Hike and Snorkel trip. The most fun I have had in years! It is so worth the money. The tour guides made the trip worth the while. Click this link to check out our video of the tour as well as other highlights from the rest of our trip!

We cannot wait to plan to go back! Our favorite vacation spot!

Until the next wave,

Movie Marathon

Posted on Updated on

Since my gallbladder surgery, I haven’t been able to do much lately. Nothing strenuous anyway. The same television shows I have seen dozens of times, daytime soap operas I don’t care to watch, and outdated game shows I can guess the outcome of. I am about to lose my mind.

So this past Friday, Tommy & I go on a date. First date we have had, just the two of us, in I can’t remember how long. I wanted dinner and a movie, but without people. I didn’t want to be around anyone but my husband. We catch an early dinner, about 5, restaurant is empty; it’s perfect. What are the chances of going to the movies & the theatre being empty? Yeah, we could not get that lucky. Next best thing? Rentals: The movie store! We browse the shelves and pick out a handful of movies. He finds several he likes (which typically involves some western and/or war movie) and I find a few we both can enjoy. All weekend long we enjoyed the last few days of quiet and just “us” time. Rhett will be coming home in a few days and back to reality we will be. I haven’t seen very many movies being advertised lately; so we go in this endeavor blinded. To my surprise, we did quite well with our selections. :]

  • Money Monster
    • I thoroughly enjoyed this movie; real life possibilities here. Definitely a must see.
  • Traded
    • Horrible acting, great concept. Movie was…. mediocre?
  • Masterminds
    • This movie was hilarious. It reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite with the cheesy humor.
  • Captain America: Civil War
    • Super hard to follow. I kept asking Tommy questions. You have to be familiar with the comic characters. Otherwise, this was a so-so film.
  • Suicide Squad
    • Would not recommend watching this with kids. Humorous, yet full of action. Really enjoyed; 4 out of 5 stars for me.

Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

What a great Spring this year has brought. We have made lots of fun, family memories. From Rhett’s third birthday four wheeler ride to his first fish!

Spring Break 2017

What a month! It is speeding by so gracefully… Here’s a recap of some of my favorite memories AND a sneak peak of our newly renovated bathroom! (Plumber came over Spring Break and we have been super busy.)

This cute little farmer picked up his own apple for a quick snack. How cute is this?? I’ll post this DIY Pinterest find Farmhouse Produce Stand in a few days. Literally, one of the easiest DIY wood projects.

Amidst our mini Spring Break trip we stopped at the Cosmic Cavern in Berryville, Arkansas! Rhett had an absolute blast (mom & dad did too!). So much information to let soak in and great sights to see!

We went to Branson, Missouri for a few days over Spring Break this year. Used our timeshare points (Bluegreen) and stayed at The Falls. Such a quiet (outside) place to stay for a mini vacation tucked into the hills of Branson. Of course, the first place Rhett wanted to go, was the jacuzzi tub, we obliged. He had so much fun in his “swimming pool”.

We went to the Dixie Stampede while we were in Branson, and again, Rhett absolutely loved it. He loved seeing the horses and the lights and fire that went along with the show. I’ve been to Branson multiple times and I have NEVER been, until now. Of course, I will be back. The food and show were amazing.

Bathroom Sneak Peek:

Check out our super cute helper! I’ll make an entire post from start to finish when all the finishing touches are made.

Until then,

Happy New Year!! “We’re gonna party like it’s 1999.” [Ha, got you singing that didn’t I?] It is 2017. 2017, ya’ll! I seriously, just can’t wrap my head around it. I’m sure this year will fly by just like the previous ones, and many fun memories will be made.

But, just for fun… It’s been:

27 years since I was born.

10 years since I graduated high school.

6 years since I met my husband. [but not married of course]

3 years since my son was born.

2 years since I have been at my current job.

What the what?? Seriously, where does the time go?

Anyway, enough of the history lesson. The last couple of weeks off from work have been fabulous. It’s hard to think about me having to go back to work tomorrow. YIKES! My family and I have done so many things over this winter break, I don’t even know where to begin. The bathroom that I mentioned back in December, well, it’s still a work in progress, but if you have been following me on my Instagram, you might have seen some progress updates. I am hoping by the end of this month it will be finished. *fingers crossed* Christmas with the family was fun as always; laughs, drinks, games, food, the usual. My most ABSOLUTE favorite gift was from my sister in law, I asked her to make it, but seriously wasn’t expecting it for Christmas because it was like 4 days before that I had asked her [more like told] to make it.

Now, if only I can decide exactly where I want this beautiful piece to go in my house!

Last night we went to a friend’s house for a New Years Eve party [& had a blast by the way]. Don’t worry guys, it was kid friendly & had Rhett with us so we didn’t have too much fun! Of course I had to bring in the New Year in style; so I tried something new with my hair & LOVED IT! Don’t think I’ll ever be able to replicate it but I dang sure will try! Rocked my Christmas present to myself around my neck; Salt & Light Gems on Etsy has the absolute most adorable handmade necklaces/chokers! Go check her out! [I’ll post more of my purchase at a later date]

Officially on Christmas Break from work; off work until 2017. I have so many projects, ideas and plans for Tommy and I over the next two weeks.

This past weekend we had our 2nd Annual Christmas Party & Scavenger Hunt with friends and it sure was memorable. [This picture says it all.. Thanks Chan for being the brave one!]

I have spent the last several weeks making & selling shirts for friends & family for Christmas presents and whatnot. Talk about SUPER BUSY! But so fun and worth it! These will be available for purchase from my Etsy shop shortly.

Here’s just a FEW of what I have done. 🙂

Rhett visited the North Pole of Texas recently and enjoyed every minute of it! He was able to ride the train around the property and see all of the Christmas lights, have a picture made with Mrs. Claus and see Santa along the way. He has not stopped talking about it since he got home.

I hope over the next couple of weeks, Tommy and I are able to work on our guest bathroom. It has been “out of order” for about 6 months. We had plans back in the summer to work on it and just never got around to it. It is so fun to plan and purchase items to renovate. And the satisfaction after completion is indescribable. Hopefully that feeling comes soon. Until then, I’ll keep buying and working [hopefully]. I’ll keep you updated on any progress & purchases with that project.

From my family to yours, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Until next time,

Wow! It’s almost the end of November, almost Thanksgiving, almost Christmas, almost 2017! A •lot• of things have happened this month. Lots of traveling, time with friends, new President-elect, new furniture, you name it!

Let’s start with the traveling:

Recently, I went on a four day cruise out of NOLA to Cozumel, Mexico with just the GIRLS! No husbands, no kids, no worries! I could not even describe the amount of food we ate, it was all so good, so of course we had to try it all. The weather was absolutely perfect, the atmosphere was addicting and refreshing. It was an absolute blast, but I sure was happy to get home to my husband and baby. 🙂

Friendsgiving:

I wanted to start a tradition of Friendsgiving to sort of jump start the holiday season. I love, love, love to cook and I love to have friends over, so what better way to bring us all together? We decorated, we ate, we drank, we passed out shortly after, but not because of the alcohol! [insert evil grin] Everyone brought a side dish or dessert, it was all pre-determined so no one brought the same dish. We were responsible for the meat and appetizers. Tommy smoked a turkey and a chicken, and I roasted two chickens. The appetizer was Dressing & Sausage Balls w/ a Cranberry Dipping Sauce. SUPER EASY & SUPER DELISH! I will post the recipe in a few days; it tastes so good! We decorated the tables into two tables; a girl’s and a guy’s table, of course the guy’s table had to be a bit sarcastic on the decor. 🙂

DIY Table Decor:

You will need two rolls Brown Kraft Paper (depending on the size of your table), black Sharpies in different sizes, tape, fall decor & an artistic hand. Cut and fit the brown Kraft paper to your table size, and secure with tape. Use the black Sharpies to decorate with fake plates, utensils and frilly designs & sayings. Add your fall decor to the center & Voila!

Cannot wait to do it again next year!

President-elect:

I am 27 years old, and I am proud [yet almost embarrassed] to say that I voted for the first time in my life this election. I did my research on the candidates, chose the one I felt could best lead our country, exercised my American right, and voted. Proudly!

New Furniture:

I have had the same “big man” chair for about 8 years now, and although it is still super comfortable, it doesn’t look as pretty as it did when I first brought it home. Same goes for my couch. We have decided it was time to just bite the bullet and purchase a new couch and chair. I can guarantee I did more research on these two items than I had on any college paper this semester. Buying a couch is an investment, and although I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, I want something affordable, yet durable. These two things normally do not go hand and hand. I decided to purchase from Wayfair. I will post info & pictures once these items arrive. Crossing my fingers everything turns out!

Next Adventure:

My husbands 30th birthday is this month! What better way to celebrate than to take him on a mini vaca? Catalina Island, California and Ensenda, Mexico here we come! 🙂 Yes, I’m a cruise/travel person, if you can’t already tell! Pics to come soon!

Until then,

Happy Thanksgiving friends!

Just look at all that cuteness!

I have been waiting a couple of weeks for these photos, and as always, Amie Wood delivers pure perfection. [This could possibly be solely because I do have the cutest little boy ever, but I obviously have to give her some credit. 😉 jk]

My sweet baby. BABY?? Where did the time go? I’m not THAT mom that is like “OMG, my baby is a week old, how can this be?!”, Yeah, that’s not me.. Mine is almost THREE! Does it seem like he should be 8 by now? Some days, yes. Oh, can I tell you; some days it feels like it has been an eternity, and then other days I look back at pictures and realize, it really hasn’t been that long. He’s still my sweet, little Rhett.

As I was showing him these pictures, of course he was saying “That’s Rhett… Mommy… Daddy… Rhett kissing Mommy…” You get the point. He’s as sweet as pie on days and then BAM! he turns on a dime into this little demon that I can’t help but love! Haha! Moms, you know! [I will post about our Friday Night Double Date + Rhett adventure that happened recently; the demon came out!]

As the days get shorter, weather gets colder, leaves start to change and the holidays approach, I’ll cherish these little moments and realize, each year, not only does Rhett get older, Tommy & I do too! YIKES!
