Month: June 2017

|June 2017|

Posted on Updated on

Almost halfway through the year. June is coming to a close. Lots of family time spent together.

Recap of some family festivities in June.

Chocolate milk mouth and dirt… ALL boy. Rhett would spend hours and hours outside just playing in the dirt, with his toys, or in the shop with his dad.

We traveled to Weatherford, OK to see my in-laws for a few days and spent Father’s Day there. The last picture is of my husband and father in law. Love. I can’t help but think in about 5 years, this will be Rhett and Tommy.

We have been doing some yard renovations and moving rock and dirt around; Rhett was in charge of driving the mower with the trailer. He had so much fun. He picked wildflowers for me & helped me arrange them for my entryway. Fun in the sprinkler and feeding chickens. A very HOT, HOT Sunday outside.

Last, but certainly not least.. I have been seeing a personal trainer since February to help motivate me and get me back in shape and back to my “pre-baby body”. [Yes, I am fully aware my child is three already]

I can’t say this enough. With all of the negativity in the world today, I have to step back and focus on the good in my life and be thankful for the life I live. July will be all about focusing on the good in MY life. For me. For my family.

Until then,

Our entry has been blah for pretty much the entire time we have lived at our house. We added paint and a new light fixture, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted to brighten it up and make it inviting!

We came across a hell of a deal at Lowe’s over the weekend that we couldn’t pass up. HARDWOOD floors that were originally $75 a box for only $25 a box!

Now, if only we could have replaced the flooring in our entire house. Anywho, quick, easy install. It looks absolutely gorgeous. I told my husband I wanted to move my chair to the front entry and just live there.

We created faux shiplap by cutting a 4×8 piece of 5mm plywood into strips of 6 inches and spacing it about a nickel’s width apart.

I went through and painted in between the cracks with a brush and then rolled the rest. I had a light yellow color behind the planks so I didn’t have to paint the wall before installing the faux shiplap. *YAY*

Check out how great it turned out. Let me know what you think!

Voila!

All in all, this entire entry way project with flooring, closet door, faux shiplap, and paint [we already had the trim] cost less than $200. SCORE!

Our next work in project is the front door. We have stripped the paint from it and will be staining it. Before and afters coming soon ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite place.

My husband and I made another trip back to the USVI and had an absolute blast, again. We stayed in the same resort, Marriott Frenchmen’s Reef, and this time they upgraded our room and it was beyond perfect. We were able to walk directly out the patio doors to the walking area to the beach.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from our trip this time.

The food is incredible. The water is crystal clear. The sand is like powdered sugar. The sun is always beaming. This IS paradise.

My go to drink: Strawberry Jalapeรฑo Margarita.

This trip we booked an “excursion” with Virgin Island Ecotours. We decided to go with the Kayak, Hike and Snorkel trip. The most fun I have had in years! It is so worth the money. The tour guides made the trip worth the while. Click this link to check out our video of the tour as well as other highlights from the rest of our trip!

We cannot wait to plan to go back! Our favorite vacation spot!

Until the next wave,
